Very Nice WW2 Scottish Highland Army Piper Military Doublet Uniform Jacket.
SCOTTISH NO.1 DRESS Doublet PIPER TUNIC.
Maker label in neck, Highland Outfitters,Hugh Macpherson Scotland Ltd.Edinburgh.
Dark Green wool piper jacket with white piping on epaulets,collar,button
edge,sleeves and tails.Three White worsted wool dressing stripes on each cuff
and each tail at bottom cuff.
No buttons on tunic.Must supply your own.They would be the round silver ones with
Scottish thistle and leaves.
Jacket is lined with black polished cotton.The sleeves are lined with white
polished cotton.
There is a small paper cleaning tag mounted inside.Has small metal hook and bail
at top of collar to hold the collar together.Small black cloth loop at back of neck.
Metal belt hooks mounted on either side of waist.Cloth loops to hold shoulder
boards have two loops intact on right side with two that are cut(easy repair) with
thread on left side.
Indication of rank badge(sgt?) removed from lower right sleeve,its a
parallelogram shape measuring 4x3 inches in size.Upper right sleeve just below
shoulder is another narrow badge which was removed,Piper rectangular badge
measuring 3.5inches x 1.25 inches.Some thread still remains on edge of sewing
shadow.
The tunic measures as follows:
Outside sleeve from shoulder to cuff,26 inches.Inside sleeve from armpit to lower
cuff ,21 inches.
Back of jacket from top of collar to lower hem ,23 inches and full length from top
of collar to lower edge of tail is 30 inches.
Measurement across back from epaulet to epaulet is 19.5 inches.
Chest size is approximately 36 inches.(small)
Condition:
Overall a very nice tunic needing buttons.The green wool shell in very nice
condition.No tears,stains,soiling or wear.One small moth hole at back of right
lower sleeve,2mm in size,hard to see.Wool in excellent condition.
White piping has slightly darkened from time.Very clean.
Thread remains where buttons were removed.
Lining in very nice condition aswell.No tears,holes,or stains to black lining.
Small area on lining near neck with light fade mark.
Two small thread seams ,inside jacket at lower hem have loosened near belt
loops.Only part i have noticed that is loose.
Label is clean and unworn.
Inside the lower cuff lining on left arm has small tear(2inch).On other sleeve lining
is very small wear spot near cuff.White cotton Sleeve lining has turned slightly
dark,but not soiled.
Overall a great wartime Pipers tunic for light restoration.
