Description

Up for auction is one RARE Topographic Map of
Fort Sill Oklahoma by the Second Battalion of Engineers 1912-14.  This map measures
51 x 34 inches.  There are no rips or tears, there is some wrinkling.  The paper is very thin and delicate.
The map is of the Fort Sill and surrounding area. The map includes the following legend:
Surveyed by a detachment from companies E.G.H. and M. 2nd Bn of Engineer's under 1st L'ts. J.G. Steese and D.H. Connolly, Corps of Engrs. from Nov. 1912 to Feb. 1913 and completed with a similar detachment under Lieut. D.H. Connolly Corps of Engineers in Aug and Sept. 1914.
The work started under s.0.107. 1912, Hdqrs. Central Division Lt. Col. Geo. A Zinn, Corps of Engineers, Division Engineer, and was interrupted by the mobilization of The 2nd. Division, in Feb. 1913.
The map was finished under so.143, 1914 Hdqrs. Southern Dept. Capt. Henry H. Robert, Corps of Engineers, Department Engineer.
Elevations shown on map are based upon the U.S. Geological bm at Lawton. The unstamped U.S. GS. monument at the N.E. Corner of the northerly. Barracks at the N.W. Corner of the Old Post has an elevation of 1173.881. which was obtained from the Lawton B.M.
