    Description

GENERAL MOTORS "TRAIN OF TOMORROW" MATCHBOOK. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class. Pre-Owned  I guess you could call this Matchbook Full Length because the drawing of the Train extends onto the Back Cover. It is a FULL MATCHBOOK also. The "TRAIN OF TOMORROW" was an American demonstrator train built as a collaboration between General Motors and Pullman-Standard between 1945 and 1947. It was purely for the public to enjoy, built for passengers and not for freight. It was the first new train to consist entirely of Dome Cars. The Four Domed Cars each had their own name - one being "Dream Cloud", which was the sleeping car. The Train went on a two year barn storming tour in the U.S. and Canada. The Tour was very popular. At the end of 1949 the Train was sold to the Union Pacific Railroad and the four cars were put into service between Portland and Seattle. They were retired by 1965. Only one remains and is being restored. Get this nice Keep Sake of "The Train of Tomorrow!"
